Did you think you were put here for something else?”

The Prolific Writer: Truths 1 and 2

She harnessed my tung – grounded my words – helped me harness my thoughts. Word – it got real!

Color outside the linesOkay. It’s a new year. Maybe you didn’t quite finish that novel or short story last year. Heck, maybe you didn’t even get it started. It doesn’t really matter.

What matters is today. Right now. And, understanding the difference between a stated goal and an accomplished one.

The difference is very simple. What you have is exactly aligned with what you are committed to having/doing/accomplishing. So, though you may have thought about writing a new book or story or article, if you weren’t committed to getting it done, it didn’t get done. And the truth is – and I found this out up close and personal – that sometimes we are more committed to the easier path than we are to doing what’s needed to become a writer of completed projects.

You’ve heard this before, I’m sure. Be willing to commit your words to the paper or screen on a…

The MEDICINE I take.

I wondered what a vanilla mind must be like. A mind untouched by sexual trauma; drug-abuse, addiction or abandonment and death; a mind that our “little society” did not turn its back on, but instead, encouraged with promise, family and friends – gifted in  abundance—many to see that one vanilla mind through.

I didn’t have to wonder long. One showed up and knocked on my computer screen one day. One that may have wandered off from this place we both call home—but never lost her roots—and those small town roots gave her some kind’a wings.

This woman found beauty in friendship. Love after heartbreak; wisdom in ancient truths; God in the simplicities of our everyday life—even when she was at odds with everything about herself.

I think it is important to open that part of the mind that allows us to…dream. To wonder. To believe. Opening these little windows started to sow seeds in me.

The MEDICINE I take from CHASING BUTTERFLIES: The question isn’t who is going to let us; it’s who is going to stop us?

When I write this, it is personal, because it is home. And guess what? Mother Earth has known our names for generations… Shes’a been callin’ to us by name— from all of Her surfaces where our bare feet have tread. There was never a doubt in my mind, this place, on the plains of our Earth, are given to us—this space to create! We take our own hands; carve a life out with it. We art ourselves all day long.

I have never been a calm, tranquil, clear blue sea. I have always been the storm. Some are afraid of the darkness – I danced with it. I meant to behave, but there were just too many options for me. Every great idea I ever had, got me in trouble—in new safety orange and polished-chrome jewelry. I had talents – I could not put on a resume.

This is where everything becomes – ZEN.

One way to think of Zen is this: a total state of focus that incorporates a total togetherness of body and mind. Zen is a way of being. It also is a state of mind. Zen involves dropping illusion and seeing things without distortion created by your own thoughts.

You know what they say? The Butterflies whispered to me. Their angelic words rolled off their powdered wings. Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.

Their kindness didn’t cost a thing; they just floated around me sprinkling that shit everywhere!

“It’s impossible!”said my Pride.

“It’s risky!” said my Experience.

“It’s pointless!” said my Reason.

“Give it a try,” whispered The Heart of Jorja.

A relationship is not just about finding the right person. It’s also about being the right person. Life is all about finding people who are your kind of crazy.

There comes a point in your life where you just walk away from all the drama and people who create it. Surround yourself with the people who make you laugh, forget the bad and focus to the light. Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don’t. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living – came the words of the Butterflies.

You know sometimes, rock bottom can be a solid foundation to rebuild your life?

There is something to be said about a woman who will stand beside you, and not compete with you… but extend a hand, give you support, daily or hourly, sometimes by the second! See something in you that you never even knew you had. Help you hone it, perfect it, feed it daily if she must. Ground you to a new path they have already paved for you. Be the strongest, loudest version of you that you could ever be – on your crawl from the cocoon.

My entire life can be described in one sentence: It didn’t go as planned. The Butterflies told me it was okay! Bad decisions make the greatest stories!

I was reminded DONT GIVE UP — the beginning is always the hardest. “To soar we must leave anything that weighs us down,” came the message of the Eagle.

Chasing Butterflies in a Magical Garden

Who pays attention to omens or signs?

People who appear at the exact right time, odd time, maybe you even thought – at the wrong time.

But it was the time – and in that frame they appeared… and everything changed, everything you ever did in life suddenly fit – and everything made sense. How crazy is that shit…?

I’m journeying thru my head. I got these two cousins – that kinda randomly appeared, all of us kinda looking for the same thing, and maybe even doing – that same thing, and didn’t know it, until we came together again, at the exact time – of my crazy moment…

Lets see what tomorrow brings – I think we might have something for you guys that you might – like. I mean if your from Flagler County, like we all are… 2015, the earth here – might call all our names.

If you have prayed for me thru this – pray with me. It helps me push!
